H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) Fears -- What People Can Do to Ease Them, According to GLT Enviro

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Antimicrobials Division lists Benefect® Disinfectant as an Antimicrobial Product Registered for Use against Influenza A Virus (including the H1N1 strain) on Hard Surfaces.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) August 18, 2009 -- With schools starting soon, many parents are worried that the H1N1 virus ("swine flu") might resurface in the fall. That has happened in the past with the 1918 influenza epidemic. While everyone hopes that will not be the case this time around, people still need to take precautions. GLT Enviro says that besides washing hands often and getting vaccinated, one of the easiest but most beneficial things people can do is to regularly clean and disinfect surfaces.

While cleaning removes germs from surfaces, disinfecting actually destroys them. Oftentimes cleaning with soap and water is not enough; although surfaces may look clean, cold and flu germs can survive on environmental surfaces for hours and even days. Disinfecting is necessary for added protection. Disinfectants are products specifically registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and contain ingredients that actually destroy bacteria and viruses. Make sure that you are using an authentic disinfectant by checking that the product label says "Disinfectant" and has an EPA registration number.

GLT Enviro offers Benefect® Disinfectant, a unique product made from 100% botanical, biodegradable ingredients. Recently, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Antimicrobials Division listed Benefect® Botanical Disinfectant as an Antimicrobial Product Effective for Use Against Influenza A Virus (which includes the H1N1 strain) on Hard Surfaces. Registration Number: 84683-3. Active Ingredient: Thymol (Thyme Oil). Formulation Type: Ready-to-Use Solution. Does not requite rinsing or wiping after application.

Benefect® is a great alternative to harsh chemicals, proven to kill over 99.99% of germs. It is, in fact, the only EPA registered botanical disinfectant.

To avoid becoming infected with flu and cold viruses from contact with contaminated surfaces, use Benefect® Disinfectant on those areas where there can be large numbers of dangerous germs and where these germs could easily spread to others: door knobs, kitchens (counters, appliances handles, etc), bathrooms, classrooms, shopping carts, lunchrooms to name a few. Public places such as schools and daycare centers are especially at risk for disease spread, therefore added precautions are recommended. A 100% natural product, Benefect® Disinfectant not only effectively destroys cold and flu viruses, but its non-toxicity makes it the ideal choice around children.
