Grief Counseling Services Battles Rising Costs of Funeral Expenses
Date:2/24/2009

Grief Counseling Services announces a new business to battle the rising costs of making funeral arrangements for your loved ones. It is more poignant than ever before, in these difficult economic times, for families to try to cut costs where ever possible.

West Sayville, NY (PRWEB) February 24, 2009 -- Grief Counseling Services (GCS), located in New York, recently announced the launch of this new business to help families battle the rising cost of funerals in these economic times. Grief Counseling Services is providing counseling services to families in need of guidance when a loved one dies or is in hospice and near death. Although GCS will not replace the role of the Funeral Director, they are offering families an alternative to the Funeral Home being the first point of contact when they are faced with this situation. GCS counselors will meet with the family to go over the choices that are available to them and assist them plan a funeral that they can afford.

The cost of making funeral arrangements have increased dramatically over the years and Grief Counseling Services is trying to help families who may not be able to afford the funeral that their loved one deserves. The GCS counselors can show them ways to cut costs without sacrificing the quality of the funeral. They can either meet with you at your home or help you over the phone. Grief Counseling Services also has a convenient website where you can go to download a copy of their new release of "Grief Counseling Services' Guide To Making Funeral Arrangements" written by Diane Setter. According to Setter, the free guide, which comes in both an English and Spanish version, is meant to provide grieving loved ones with information on making affordable funeral arrangements as well as explain the laws which are in place to protect consumers from unscrupulous funeral homes.

The services offered by GCS include survivor counseling and hospice support groups as well as assistance making the final arrangements. Setter says that the goal of GCS is to assist grieving families through all aspects of the process and to make it as stress free as possible.

GCS recognizes that funeral costs are the third most expensive purchase the average family will make, behind the purchase of a home and a car. GCS also realizes that in most instances families, in the midst of grief, are not in the best frame of mind to make a sound decision about the final arrangements for their loved one. For this reason, Grief Counseling Services offers a variety of discount products which include quality caskets and urns at prices as much as 80% lower than those charged by most funeral homes. In most cases, GCS can have the casket to the family's funeral home of choice, regardless of location, within six to eight hours of purchase.
