Enhanced Data Sharing Capabilities of PrimeSuite Enables Physicians to Make the Most Informed Decisions When Time is of the Essence
CARROLLTON, Ga., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenway Medical Technologies continues to add to its portfolio of on demand and point-of-care solutions that equip physicians with the tools necessary to make critical decisions regarding a patient's health when time is of the essence. Greenway's recent participation in the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) showcase at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's (HIMSS) convention demonstrated how solutions within its complete physicians infrastructure can provide obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) physicians with the most up-to-date patient information that enables them to administer the proper care during any stage of the pregnancy period.
Greenway's flagship electronic health record (EHR), practice management and interoperability solution, PrimeSuite(R), is designed to help physicians provide the highest level of care through the utilization of such tools as the Antepartum Summary (APS), which records critical stages and checkpoints during an expectant mother's pregnancy period. The availability of this information complements an OB/GYN physician's ability to treat patients during regularly scheduled office visits or when they are called to the hospital for an emergency delivery. With PrimeSuite and the APS, the physician will have access to the patient's health history when he/she needs it most.
The APS is based on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist (ACOG) antepartum record. Through the APS, the most crucial information, including ongoing diagnoses, estimated due dates, previous pregnancy outcomes and other important benchmarks are recorded. During the labor and delivery period, the physician must review this information in order to administer the proper treatment and delivery of the baby. When APS data is contained in an EHR solution like PrimeSuite, it is readily available should the labor begin early or the physician needs to make quick decisions beneficial to the welfare of the mother and child.
Along with the APS, Greenway(R) continues to lead interoperability efforts with involvement in such programs as the Patient Care Coordination (PCC) and the Quality Research and Public Health (QRPH) committees, which also work to promote the advancement of IHE standardization.
Greenway played a key role in 11 total scenarios presented at the IHE showcase, which is designed to promote interoperability advancements made within the healthcare industry. Greenway's leadership in these events, along with the participation of other leading EHR providers, solidified efforts to create systemic interoperability that will enhance the overall quality of patient care through the timely, safe and secure exchange of patient health information.
"The antepartum summary provides critical, on-the-spot patient information and will prove to be an invaluable tool for OB/GYN physicians when time is of the essence," said Dr. Samuel Lederman, managing partner of Palm Beach OB/GYN of Palm Beach, Fla. "Having a patient's information readily available will help physicians provide the highest level of care that will positively impact the health of the mother and child." Palm Beach OB/GYN has been a Greenway customer since January, 2006 and recently won the HIMSS Davies Award of excellence in ambulatory EHR.
"Greenway's solutions have been designed from day one to meet the needs of interoperability, as well as our evolving industry," said Justin Barnes, vice president of marketing and government affairs at Greenway Medical Technologies. "By participating in the IHE showcase and other related events, we are able to connect with other EHR leaders and help bring about real world implementation of these interoperable systems. We are ready today to begin pursing these partnerships."
