Leading Healthcare Information Technology Company Provides Interoperable

EHR Solution Capable of Standards-Based Clinical Data Sharing

CARROLLTON, Ga., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Greenway Medical Technologies Inc., recently participated in the National Health IT Week's Capitol Hill Technology Showcase, held in Washington D.C. the week of June 9, 2008. The showcase marked one of the healthcare IT industry's first and most successful real-time demonstrations of ambulatory software providers exchanging healthcare data between disparate EHR systems.

The unique health information exchange took place at the Capitol Hill Technology Showcase with more than 150 key decision makers in attendance including members of Congress, government health officials, healthcare IT companies, regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and other health information technology (HIT) leaders. Greenway(R), NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, Inc., IBM and Initiate Systems all took part in the demonstration. During National Health IT Week, public and private entities collaborated to advance health IT adoption with "one voice, one vision."

Members of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) and the Electronic Health Record Vendor's Association (EHRVA) demonstrated real-time, standards-based exchanges of healthcare information using a common scenario of a patient with a cardiac health condition needing medical attention from multiple care providers. The scenario documented the process as the patient moved through numerous care settings, showing that the benefits of interoperability are here today and capable of streamlining the exchange of healthcare information between disparate providers while improving overall healthcare in the U.S.
