Greenway Medical Technologies' EHR Solution, PrimeSuite, Enables Eligible Professionals to Participate in PQRI Through Integration With Outcome Sciences, a 2009 CMS Qualified PQRI Registry

CARROLLTON, Ga., Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ --

Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) Facts:

  • A voluntary program that provides financial incentives to care providers who successfully report on a specified set of data gathered from services and procedures they provide to patients under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

  • PQRI registries report directly to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)

  • By reporting a minimum of three measures on specified patient groups, physicians can earn bonuses on all Medicare billing collected during the year

  • Eligible professionals are physicians, practitioners and therapists who provide services that are paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule

Greenway Medical Technologies Inc. today announced that, through an ongoing partnership with Outcome Sciences Inc. (d/b/a Outcome), Greenway's flagship integrated electronic health record (EHR) practice management and interoperability solution, PrimeSuite(R), incorporates all 153 individual quality measures and all seven measure groups through the CMS approved PQRI registry reporting method. This integration and partnership enables eligible care providers who report the appropriate measures or measure groups to receive a two percent bonus payment on all of their Medicare billing for 2009.

This innovation allows for real-time data submissions or retrospective review and submission of patient data directly from PrimeSuite to the Outcome(TM) PQRI Registry anytime throughout the year. Medical practices can use the data for patient outreach and quality improvement. Outcome submits the data to CMS one time at the end of the year. The registry reporting option enables the performance data to be submitted separately from the billing process, which means that providers and staff have no need to select additional codes at the time of billing. In cases where a practice can benefit from one of the seven PQRI measure groups available, submission data on 30 consecutive patients may be all that is necessary to meet the reporting requirements.

With PrimeSuite, qualified patient data is seamlessly submitted to Outcome for transmission to CMS.

The data exchange is based on the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) Retrieve Form for Data Capture Transaction Package (TP 50). This process automates the collection of objective data from the EHR and gives the care provider an opportunity to add additional information that may be relevant to the measurement of quality care. As a CMS-qualified PQRI registry, Outcome enables EHR providers such as Greenway(R) the ability to easily participate in real-world research and quality measurement opportunities.

"Greenway customers that utilize PrimeSuite to streamline the clinical, financial and administrative workflows of their practices are very well positioned to receive additional return on investment by participating in PQRI," said Tee Green, president of Greenway Medical Technologies. "From the start, Greenway has developed its ambulatory and research solutions to work with organizations such as CMS that, like Greenway, are dedicated to improving overall population health within America."

"Outcome is committed to partnering with companies such as Greenway Medical as we work together to provide solutions that address real-world challenges," said Richard Gliklich, MD, president and CEO of Outcome Sciences. "By working with Greenway, we not only provide a practical solution for care providers wishing to participate in research and quality reporting programs such as PQRI, we also work to provide services that improve the quality of medicine these physicians can practice."
