Green Swan, Inc. Introduces The Cell Spacer™, a Device That Puts Distance Between a Mobile Phone User’s Head and Headset
Date:11/19/2013

Novato, CA (PRWEB) November 19, 2013

Green Swan Inc., a champion of safer cell phone usage, today announced the official launch of The Cell Spacer™, a device that puts distance between a mobile phone user’s head and headset to help consumers ensure compliance with FCC and industry standard regulations for safer cell phone use. The launch of The Cell Spacer comes amid increasing concern in Europe for consumer safety when using mobile devices.

"It is important that people understand that there are real risks associated with exposure to the radiation emitted by cell phones and similar gadgets," says Olle Johansson, Ph.D. at Sweden’s Karolinska Institute in the Department of Neuroscience. "We know that exposure to this radiation may impact DNA, leading to possible cancer risks, and also affects male and female germ cells and fertility. Beyond government regulations, it is imperative that each person educates themself and employs safer methods when using their mobile devices. The complete lack of biologically-based exposure standards or hygienic safety levels by our health protection agencies, and the lack of preventive actions, can turn out to be a huge mistake. To not act today would be deemed ethically and morally completely corrupt in the future."

The reclassification of cell phone radiation as a "carcinogenic hazard" in May of 2011 by the World Health Organization’s International Agency on Research for Cancer (IARC) was a key turning point in the battle to shed light on the connection between exposure to cell phone radiation and adverse health effects. However, while the U.S. remains idle in spite of ever mounting studies, many European nations are pursuing precautions to reduce childhood exposure to cell phone radiation and help their citizens’ use their mobile devices more safely. Below are just some recent actions by leading European nations to better protect their citizens.

  •     October 2012 – Italy's Supreme Court upheld a ruling that stated there was a link between a business executive's brain tumor and his heavy mobile phone usage.
  •     October 2013 – French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health (ANSES) warned the public to reduce their exposure to cell phone radiation.
  •     March 2014 – Belgium will instate new regulations that ban the sale of children’s mobile phones and require the specific absorption rate (SAR) be listed on every mobile phone. Belgium also recommends that citizens use hands-free methods in order to keep the phone away from the body and avoid making calls when the signal is weak.
"The dangers posed by cell phone radiation is a real concern, one that warrants government action like those taken by Italy, France and Belgium," said Harry Lehmann, Founder and CEO of Green Swan. "We’re working to increase awareness in the U.S. and beyond, by providing products that help educate consumers on safer ways to use their mobile phone. We’re living in a mobile world, people are always going to use their devices, but the important thing that we stress is using these devices more safely and in accordance with FCC and industry standard regulations."

With The Cell Spacer, users have the ability to ensure safer cell phone usage without the need for equipment that requires batteries, charging or tangled wires and offers the following benefits:

  •     Promotes safer use of cell phone in accordance with established regulations.
  •     Eliminates the need for wired or battery powered headsets, while providing users with similar protection against proximity exposure to cellular radiation.
  •     Provides high quality reception sound.
The Cell Spacer is available in five colors (green, yellow, white, blue and black) and can be purchased through Amazon for $11.95. Green Swan also offers three proximity alert mobile apps available at the Google Play store for Android smartphones 2.1 and higher. Too Close™ and Pocket Alert™ can be downloaded for $0.99 and Too Close Parental™ is available for $1.99.
