Omnicell systems speed up delivery of medication and reduce risk of

medication errors

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and LANCASTER, Wis., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In a move to continually improve patient safety and staff efficiency, Omnicell, Inc. (Nasdaq: OMCL), a leading provider of system solutions to acute healthcare facilities, and Grant Regional Health Center, a leading healthcare provider, today announced the installation of Omnicell medication use systems at the Grant Regional Health Center.

Grant Regional Health Center has installed OmniRx(R) medication distribution systems and an OmniDispenser single-dose dispensing module on nursing floors to improve patient safety throughout the facility. In addition, Anesthesia Workstations from Omnicell provide the Grant Regional Health Center operating room with a complete system for the management of anesthesia supplies and medications, while complementing the workflow of the clinician at the point of care.

"Built into our OmniRx medication systems are advanced dispensing and bar code technologies that reduce the risks to patients of medication errors and allow nurses and other caregivers to work with improved efficiency," said Teri Welter, PharmD, Director of Pharmacy, Grant Regional Health Center. "With all of our Omnicell systems, access to medications is controlled and secure, restocking accuracy is improved, and our staff has more patient care time."

The computerized Omnicell medication distribution systems located throughout the hospital are password-protected and locked, have lights to guide nurses to the right medication and contain a profile of drugs approved by the hospital for each patient.
