New York Business Group on Health Members Gain Insight on Possible
Healthcare Policy in New Administration
NEW YORK, Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Governor Mike Huckabee has led the charge to improve health care in the state of Arkansas and has often said Americans must begin to take control of their health and that the effort is just as important at work as it is at home. Wednesday, at the New York Business Group on Health meeting in New York, NY he discussed how he believes the democratic administration will impact the healthcare system, stating "the problem of health care is everyone's issue -- not just the president's."

Huckabee has long been a thought-leader on how health care in the United States can be improved, often calling for a national emphasis on living a healthy lifestyle for positive, long-term management of one's health. During his speech, Huckabee discussed the results of the "Healthy Arkansas" initiative that he spearheaded in partnership with LifeSynch (formerly branded as Corphealth) and HealthMedia. The program was developed to improve the health of State of Arkansas employees. In one year, nearly 60 percent of State employee participants lost weight, 95 percent improved their nutrition and 12 percent reduced their BMI by at least one unit.
"In Arkansas, we realize that the investment in prevention today becomes a savings in treatment tomorrow," said Huckabee. "In certain areas of the country, we grew up thinking that fried and sweet foods were the standard for a balanced diet, so for many people, the healthcare effort is about educating not just the body, but the mind, as well."
