Go Red For Women(TM) and Chicago/NW Indiana Jiffy Lube Launch Year Two Partnership

CHICAGO, Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Building on a record-breaking first-year fundraising partnership with the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women(TM) campaign in 2008, Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Jiffy Lube service centers are once again committed to raising money and awareness to combat the nation's leading killer of women. From January 28 through March 16, customers can support this cause with a donation of $3 at participating locations, for which they will receive a Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life (MPFL) savings book containing heart healthy recipes and $100 in savings from Jiffy Lube.

Each $3 MPFL contribution made during the campaign, either online or at participating service centers, will be donated in full to Go Red For Women(TM).

"Last year, we raised a record (for a first-year Go Red For Women(TM) partner) $1 million nationwide, and more than $60,000 through our local participating service centers," said Dan Petrey, president of the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Jiffy Lube Owners Association. "Our goal is to increase both numbers by 50 percent, and we believe we can do it!"

Prevalence of Heart Disease

Nearly 2,400 Americans die of cardiovascular disease each day -- an average of one death every 37 seconds. Heart disease is the nation's number one killer of men and women. Yet, despite more women dying of heart disease than the next five causes of death combined, only 21 percent of women view heart disease as their greatest health threat.

Healthy Hearts & Healthy Vehicles

Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life leverages the parallels between properly maintaining both heart health and vehicle health, and educates people on smart preventive maintenance of their bodies and vehicles.
