Go Pink on Mother's Day to Fight Breast Cancer
Date:5/5/2009

Heirloom Quality Mother's Day Gift Bat Now Available

LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Thinking of their own mothers - and mothers, sisters and daughters across the nation -- more than 250 major league ballplayers will step up to the plate wielding pink Louisville Slugger bats on Mother's Day. Games played on May 10 will mark the fourth year the pink Louisville Slugger bats have been used to call attention to the menace of breast cancer and raise funds for breast cancer education and research through the Major League Baseball Cancer Initiative.

Now fans too can support the campaign both by wearing something pink to the ball park on Mother's Day and by purchasing their own personalized pink Louisville Slugger bats, which become a historic addition to a sports memorabilia collection as well as a reminder of progress in the fight against breast cancer.

In conjunction with the 125th anniversary Louisville Slugger logo, Big Time Bats of Mundelein, Ill., will customize an authenticated heirloom-quality bat to each customer's specifications for $109 plus shipping, with $10 of the price going to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Fans can choose to add the logo of any of the major league teams. Also, the jersey number of a favorite player or the name of a person to be honored or remembered, or any other short message, can be laser-engraved to provide a long-lasting keepsake.

John Obie, president of Big Time Bats, said, "We are proud to help support the Major League Baseball Cancer Initiative while offering baseball fans an opportunity to own a unique addition to their sports memorabilia collections."
