Global Security Associates and Global Emergency Management Prepare for the 2010 Hurricane Season

Having the right emergency response team on hand, along with a business contingency plan and a knowledge of how to react, is key to a successful outcome during an emergency event. Global's team of experts will prepare you for the unthinkable as the hurricane season approaches.

New York, New York (PRWEB) -- The official start of the hurricane season begins today with the dire prediction of a very active season of potentially 23 storms to occur in the Atlantic Basin. Preparing for business continuity, in the event a company or organization needs to face one or several of the storms predicted, begins by having a plan. Global Security Associates and Global Emergency Management have been very active during the winter months preparing for what experts say will be one of the most active hurricane seasons.

“With the official start of hurricane season our customers begin to pay more attention to weather forecasts and currents moving off of Western Africa as well as low pressure formation in the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico,” explains William McGuire, President and CEO of Global. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) experts predict three to seven of these storms, could be major hurricanes reaching upwards to category 5. Other weather centers concur.

“Only time will tell what 2010 will bring for us, however the predictions for a busier than usual season started earlier this spring with reports out of Colorado State University from William Gray and Philip Klotzbach predicting 15 named tropical storms, including 8 hurricanes, 4 major hurricanes and a 69 percent chance of a hit along the U.S. coastline.”

Each year as predictions are posted and storms begin to form, Global customers in the region have become accustomed to their tailor-made emergency plans being reviewed to accommodate change or reaffirm the goals of business continuity. Global’s emergency teams are always looking at ways to make sure the best possible outcome is achieved. According to Peter Harlick, VP of Sales & Marketing, “Our Emergency Response Teams have been actively taking courses such as FEMA’s NIMS ICS level 700a, 100, 200 and beyond,” Constant education is vital, according to Harlick, so that when mobilized and deployed, there is a uniformed response and a reporting structure. “Additionally, our teams throughout the southeast have been taking inventory and re-stocking with heater meals, radios, other non-perishable foods, clothing, water, etc. In terms of the southeast and Gulf Coast regions; once activated, our teams can have boots on the ground inside of 12 hours in some cases.”

Additionally, in April Global was invited to participate in the Multi-State Gulf Coast Emergency Response Drill hosted by the National Sheriff’s Association and the InfraGard National Members Alliance. The drill tested local law enforcements ability to verify, using the ID Trust Network, the credentials of first responders and other private sector responders in getting past road blocks to access the affected areas. According to William McGuire, “By participating in this drill and by having our firm and our personnel pre-registered using the Pegasus Program, we can almost guarantee that our security teams will be able to pass through police road blocks and get into disaster areas quickly to service our customers needs.”

Companies who have faced storms without the right back up from outside sources or who suffered as a result of not having a plan in place, should act now. “We often advise and instruct our prospects and customers that the best way to ensure a fast response from our Global Operations Centers and Emergency Response Teams is to engage with us early and enter into a preferred client relationship,” recommends McGuire.

Be on the lookout for the following 2010 named storms:
Alex, Bonnie, Colin, Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Igor, Julia, Karl, Lisa, Matthew, Nicole, Otto, Paula, Richard, Shary, Tomas, Virgine and Walter
