Gleaners Community Food Bank Board Members Match Donations December 19, 2007
Date:12/17/2007

DETROIT, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- On Wednesday December 19th, 2007 Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan's (GCFB) board members will match, dollar for dollar all donations made to Gleaners up to the first $70,000 in order to meet the increased demand for food this holiday season. Between now and year end, area children, families and seniors will need more than 1,000,000 pounds of food. By donating the community will ensure that their hungry neighbors receive the support they need.

Gerry Brisson vice president of development said, "We are so thankful for our southeast Michigan neighbors who have heard our call for help and responded generously. They have made this holiday season one of hope instead of heartache for thousands of families, children, and seniors. Our board has also stepped up and is offering to double your gift today so that Gleaners can meet all the requests for food that are coming to us. $1, which regularly buys three meals, will buy six meals today. If we all do a little, we can truly accomplish a lot."

To make a secure donation simply log on at http://www.gcfb.org, or call 1-866-GLEANERS (453-2637). All gifts to Gleaners are tax deductible and can qualify for a special State of Michigan tax credit.

Contributions to a legally recognized charity qualify for a federal tax deduction to the extent allowed by law.

Taxpayers should consult their tax preparer with regard to credit. Donations will only be matched by the Gleaners board on Wednesday, December 19, 2007.
