GlaxoSmithKline Awards Ten Area Healthcare Nonprofits with $40,000 Each in Funding

(Nonprofits Receive the GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Awards)

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- GlaxoSmithKline, one of the world's leading research-based pharmaceutical and healthcare companies, has announced the recipients of the GlaxoSmithKline 12th Annual IMPACT Awards for providing access to community healthcare services. Each Pennsylvania-based nonprofit will receive a $40,000 award. A ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia where grants will go to:

  • Breastfeeding Resource Center (Montgomery County);
  • Casa Guadalupe Center (Lehigh County);
  • Co-County Wellness Services (Berks County);
  • ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth (Montgomery County);
  • Family and Community Service of Delaware County;
  • Libertae, Inc. (Bucks County);
  • Public Citizens for Children and Youth (Philadelphia);
  • Resources for Children's Health (Philadelphia);
  • St. Catherine Laboure Medical Clinic (Philadelphia); and
  • Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition (Philadelphia).

Breastfeeding Resource Center, located in Glenside, Pa., provides expert clinical breastfeeding services to families, regardless of income, and serves as a resource for evidence-based breastfeeding information for healthcare professionals (www.breastfeedingresourcecenter.org).

Casa Guadalupe Center of Allentown, Pa., provides services for children, youth, adults and elderly residents in the areas of health, education and social service (www.casalv.org).

Co-County Wellness Services (AKA Berks AIDS Network) of Reading, Pa., promotes health and wellness by providing accessible prevention and compassionate care, serving individual and community health needs, including HIV/AIDS (www.berksaidsnetwork.org).

ElderNet of Lower Merion and Narberth of Bryn Mawr, Pa., enables elderly and disabled younger adults in Lower Merion and Narberth to continue living at home safely and independently for as long as possible by offering access to medical care, and volunteer and social work services that improve quality of life (www.eldernetonline.org).

Family and Community Service of Delaware County located in Media, Pa., preserves and strengthens family life in all its forms, and promotes enhanced functioning of individuals, families and communities (www.fcsdc.org).

Libertae, Inc., located in Bensalem, Pa., empowers women and their families to maintain sobriety through comprehensive treatment programs that create and support healthy communities (www.libertae.org).

Public Citizens for Children and Youth of Philadelphia improves the lives and life chances of children in the Philadelphia region through thoughtful and informed advocacy (www.pccy.org).

Resources for Children's Health, located in Philadelphia, promotes positive parenting, healthy pregnancies, and the health and well-being of children and families (www.phmc.org/rch).

St. Catherine Laboure Medical Clinic of Philadelphia provides high quality, comprehensive primary medical care in a dignified manner solely to those without health insurance, regardless of ability to pay.

Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition, located in Philadelphia, supports immigrants, refugees, and their families as they seek access to opportunities which would advance the condition of their lives in the United States (www.seamaac.org).

About the GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards: To qualify for a GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Award, applicants must provide access to community healthcare services (primary mission) in the Pennsylvania counties of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery or Philadelphia; have a total annual operating budget of less than $2.5 million; and have been in existence as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for at least five years.
