Expansion makes regional retailer's $4 drug program the largest of its kind

CLEVELAND, Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing to deliver upon its commitment to improving the health and wellness of its customers, supermarket retailer Giant Eagle, Inc. today announced that effective this Thursday, November 8, 2007, the company will expand its popular $4 generic prescription medication program drugs to a total of more than 400.

The program makes commonly prescribed dosages, of up to a 30-day supply, of participating generic drugs available to Giant Eagle Pharmacy customers for only $4. The company originally launched its $4 drug program in late 2006 with more than 300 drugs included. To date, the program has proven extremely successful, with tens of thousands of Giant Eagle pharmacy customers benefiting from the program.

"The generic medications included here are popular drugs that will help our customers, particularly senior citizens and those with families, live a healthy lifestyle."

The Giant Eagle $4 generic prescription medication program is an extension the company's ongoing focus to take costs out of its internal operations and to invest those savings into lower everyday prices for customers.
