NEW YORK, Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- An astounding one in eight women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime. Shape magazine encourages everyone to join the #1 active lifestyle magazine this fall as the annual Shape Pilates for Pink initiative kicks off! This award-winning fundraiser enables one and all to get involved, get active and make a difference.

Shape and The Breast Cancer Research Foundation(R) (BCRF), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preventing and finding a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide, have teamed up to provide people across the country with a variety of ways to help to fight this life-threatening disease.

With a goal of raising $250 from each participating facility, individual donations of $10 or more to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation are required to take part in these special classes. Or you can host a Pilates for Pink class in your local studio or healthclub. Throughout the month of October 2009, Shape invites supporters to designate select Pilates classes as "Pilates for Pink" fundraising classes. Visit www.pilatesforpink.com to find a participating studio in your area or to find out how to host a class of your own.

Registration is open now for the event of the year - Pilates in the Park - Sunday, October 4th - Union Square Park in NYC from 9am-5pm. This event includes challenging, motivational and beneficial classes instructed by the pros at Equinox Fitness Clubs, the exclusive health club partner for Pilates for Pink.
