Georgia-Pacific Professional Promotes Good Hand Hygiene With a Healthy Solutions Campaign
Date:5/8/2009

ATLANTA, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Georgia-Pacific Professional kicks off a campaign focused on the company's commitment to promote good hand hygiene practices.

This healthy solutions campaign, based on the idea of "The New Chicken Soup," is just the start of an ongoing effort to encourage good hygiene to help ward off infectious disease. It begins with a full-page advertisement in the Friday, May 8 edition of USA Today.

Recent events have reminded the public about the importance of proper hand washing practices to avoid the spread of infectious diseases like the H1N1 virus. Specifically, the Centers for Disease Control recommends regular, vigorous hand washing with soap and water for at least 15 to 20 seconds. Drying fully using a paper towel is also a key step in maintaining clean hands.

"Proper hand washing and drying with a paper towel are the foundations of successful infection control practices," says Alex Volpe, director - towel category, Georgia-Pacific Professional. "Through our easy to use washroom products, Georgia-Pacific Professional provides effective hygiene solutions every day while consumers are away from home."

Consumers can learn more about the hand hygiene campaign by visiting www.gppro.com/healthy. The Web site focuses on health and hand washing, including proper hand washing techniques, tips on frequency, and ways to prevent skin damage.

For businesses, the site offers information about Georgia-Pacific Professional products that help promote good hygiene and reduce germs every day. The online destination features specific information about promoting proper hygiene in public places such as schools, food processing facilities, restaurants, airports, health care facilities and office buildings.
