About Gateway Health Plan

Gateway Health Plan is a managed care delivery system that provides service to more than 251,000 members eligible for medical assistance. Established in 1992 as an alternative to Pennsylvania's Department of Public Welfare's Medical Assistance Program, Gateway Health Plan currently operates in 39 counties in Pennsylvania and four counties in Ohio. In January 2006, Gateway Health Plan Medicare Assured, a Special Needs Plan for Pennsylvanians who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, was launched and is now one of the largest Medicare program for the dually-eligible population in the nation with over 25,000 members. In January 2007, Medicare Assured is now also offered to Ohioans living in the four county service area.
