" who launched the successful UCLA Thrift store in the 1960's and achieved success as a real estate investor and President of Giroux Glass.

Mrs. Murrell was the youngest president of the UCLA Medical Center Auxiliary, a support group of more than 1,000 volunteers that provides financial aid and assistance to patients and their families. "By the number of people assembled in this room, I can tell that there are many others who share my appreciation of what LA BioMed does for our community."

Nearly 500 guests at the Blueprint for Discovery Gala enjoyed dinner, dancing to the John Brown Band and a silent and live auction featuring fine wines, a Windstar cruise, a Goodyear blimp ride, "Dinner with a Doc," great getaways and much more. The gala also featured Discovery Showcases, which provided a sampling of the innovative research underway at LA BioMed.

"Thanks so much to Jennifer Laity and Joyce Brown, the co-chairs for the gala, and to the other members of the Foundation Board who gave so generously of their time and resources," said Dr. Meyer. "I wish to express my appreciation to our sponsors who donated so generously and to the LA BioMed Board of Directors, investigators and our other colleagues who supp
