Date:11/5/2008

ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) released the following statement today from GPhA President and CEO Kathleen Jaeger on the 2008 election results:

His campaign stated that, as President, he would support legislation to create a biogenerics approval pathway with as short an exclusivity period as possible to ensure timely consumer access. That's welcome news to the countless Americans who are struggling to afford the extremely high costs of brand biopharmaceutical medicines.

GPhA also stands ready to work with the Obama Administration and Congress to ensure the safety of all medicines. Safety must always be our number one priority.

GPhA also congratulates Senator John McCain for running a
