Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 05, 2013 funeral and finance advice column today released their observations regarding the decision of Oscar-winner Angelina Jolie to attend her partner’s movie premiere over her aunt’s funeral services. also listed some tips about proper etiquette for not being able to attend a funeral, and the courteous actions that should be taken.

According to an article by Caroline Goddard of entertainment column, published June 3rd 2013, Angelina Jolie appeared alongside partner Brad Pitt at the London premiere of Pitt’s latest flick, “World War Z.” Goddard states that Jolie chose the premiere over the funeral of her aunt Debbie Martin, who passed away on May 26th after a long battle with breast cancer. Martin carried the same BRCA1 gene mutation which resulted in the death of Jolie’s mother after a bought with ovarian cancer, and Jolie’s decision to undergo a pre-emptive double mastectomy to reduce her chances of breast cancer.

The article reported that Jolie chose to accompany Pitt to the premiere to return the love and support that he has been steadily supplying to her since she underwent the difficult surgery. was a little surprised at Jolie’s decision, but respects and understands that each person does what they feel is best in difficult times. is quoted as saying, “Sometimes it can be quite tricky and very inconvenient to attend the funeral services of a loved one, and you are forced to make the best decision possible. In Jolie’s case, she is supporting one of the people that matters most to her in the world and that’s perfectly fine. If you find yourself torn between attending a service or fulfilling a previous obligation, only you can decide what’s the right thing to do.”

The above-mentioned article reported that Jolie’s family is okay with her missing the funeral. Jolie’s uncle, and husband to her late aunt Debbie, is quoted as saying, “Angelina will be in London on Sunday so she won’t be able to attend but she has been in touch with us and with various other members of the family, which has obviously been lovely and meant a lot to us. Angelina has been in touch throughout the week and her brother Jamie has been with us, giving us his support day by day. They both loved Debbie very much and although Angie is not able to come right now, she has sent her love and support which was very nice.”

In the wake of such a highly publicized decision not to attend a funeral, offered tips and advice for how to respond tactfully and courteously in the event that readers find themselves unable to attend a funeral. The online magazine recommended giving one’s regrets over a phone call as opposed to an email, that way it’s more personal. Another piece of advice is to send a hand-written sympathy card as a heartfelt gesture. And said it’s always appreciated to send food or a donation. is quoted as saying, “Ask the family how you can help them with the service, even though you are unable to attend. The costs can add up fast, so pitching in with a donation might be appropriate. If you’re not that close to the family, or they insist they don’t need the help, a memorial gift in the name of the deceased could be a nice option. If there was a charity in particular that this person liked, giving a donation in their honor would be wonderfully appropriate. And of course there is always the gift of flowers, which people may think is mundane but is really a lovely gesture. A burial plot just surrounded and adorned with flowers from loved ones is always a beautiful display.”

About is an online magazine that offers information and advice to readers who may have some difficult burial and funeral decisions ahead of them. gives counsel and data on how to pre purchase a plot, arrange a cremation, spread ashes, and plan a memorial service.
