A recent study by a respected medical organization indicates a significant increase in plastic surgery procedures over the last several years, especially in procedures such as breast augmentation and liposuction. One group that considers these types of aesthetic enhancement treatments is made up of new mothers trying to renew a number of body areas after the physical rigors of pregnancy have taken their toll. . Robert E. Rothfield, MD, a plastic surgeon in Ft. Lauderdale, says the ‘Mommy Makeover’ is a combination of some of the most common plastic surgery procedures, and it is designed specifically to restore the bodies of new moms.
(Vocus) February 24, 2010 -- A study released last year by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reflected a 162 percent jump in surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures from 1997 to 2008. Of that number, women comprised 92 percent of those undergoing treatment. The top surgical procedure performed was breast augmentation, followed quickly by liposuction; and BOTOX® injections topped the list for non-surgical cosmetic enhancement procedures. These treatments and others can all be used as part of a Mommy Makeover, available from Robert E. Rothfield at his practice offering plastic surgery and breast augmentation in Ft. Lauderdale.
New mothers know that bearing children can be one of life’s greatest gifts; however, the physical toll that pregnancy can take on their bodies can often be difficult to reverse. Many new moms have trouble getting their midsections back into shape – even with strict diet and exhausting exercise routines – and notice substantial changes in the appearance of their breasts and other parts of their bodies. Dr. Rothfield at Weston Plastic Surgery, Inc. says a Ft. Lauderdale Mommy Makeover can address a number of these areas at once, using a combination of procedures, the so-called “Mommy Makeover “, designed to rejuvenate body regions that have been affected by pregnancy. Dr. Rothfield says one of the most prominent areas changed by pregnancy isthe midsection. New mothers can achieve a tighter, more fit-looking stomach with a tummy tuck in Ft. Lauderdale. This procedure removes excess skin in the abdomen and tightens the underlying muscles, pulling the remaining skin taut for a flatter, more toned-looking stomach.
In the course of a Mommy Makeover, Dr. Rothfield says a tummy tuck can serve as an effective compliment to liposuction and/or a breast lift and/or a breast augmentation. Liposuction can eliminate stubborn, excess fat pockets that can appear in a variety of areas after pregnancy. Women who have recently had children may also notice that their breasts have a deflated appearance. Dr. Rothfield notes that a breast augmentation, sometimes in combination with a breast lift, effectively addresses this problem. Both breast augmentation and breast lift in Ft. Lauderdale are among the most common procedures that Dr. Rothfield performs.
Dr. Rothfield typically advises patients to wait several months after their pregnancy to allow for equilibration of the post partum changes. After some time has elapsed, he encourages new moms to speak with him during an initial consultation so they can decide which procedures may be best for their needs.
Dr. Rothfield says a Mommy Makeover is a great way for new moms to address a number of aesthetic issues and get back their pre-pregnancy figures. With all the sacrifices mothers often make, Dr. Rothfield says their appearance doesn’t have to be one of them.
