OnCare Reduces Paperwork, Allows for Stronger Management

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Based on its recent analysis of the mobile resource management (MRM) market, Frost & Sullivan has named Gearworks OnCare as the recipient of the "2009 North American Home Healthcare Mobile Solution of the Year Award" Gearworks has translated the location, tracking, and management capabilities of MRM into OnCare, a solution that directly addresses the unique needs of the fast-growing home healthcare vertical.

MRM vendors and channels have zeroed in on home healthcare as a top-tier target, as MRM solutions have begun to expand beyond horizontal applications and into new industry-specific offerings.

"Only a few years ago, MRM was typically a fleet management play, tracking and monitoring local and long-haul trucks using expensive in-vehicle systems and dedicated servers," says Frost & Sullivan Senior Industry Analyst Jeanine Sterling. "Today's next-generation MRM solutions have moved to the mobile handset arena and become significantly more affordable."

The statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor indicate that the number of home healthcare aides is projected to be 2.3 million by 2016. In such a rapidly expanding market, the combination of high-speed wireless communications and global positioning system (GPS) location capability - all on a mobile phone - can provide an array of benefits.

The primary benefit offered by OnCare is its basic flexibility.

"Gearworks can use the 'write one and run any' capabilities of its Appmosphere mobile application platform to quickly customize OnCare to fit the unique plans of any healthcare enterprise," observes Sterling.
