Friends in Need Are Friends Indeed
Date:7/19/2013

Jefferson, Georgia (PRWEB) July 19, 2013

Last week in Jefferson, Georgia a group of fencers and fence suppliers organized by NAFCA member and past president, Chris Chapman met to install several types of fence at the Halstead family's new dream home. Tripp Halstead now 3 years old, was injured when high winds from Hurricane Sandy caused a large limb to break off a tree in the play yard of Tripp's day care center, which landed on his neck and head, resulting in severe brain trauma. Since then, Tripp has endured multiple surgeries and a bout with meningitis on his road to recovery.

After the nightmare of their son's massive brain trauma and long term recovery, the Halstead's new home, closer to family and equipped for Tripp's special needs has been a continuing project for Sunshine on a Ranney Day, a Georgia based charity focusing on helping families meet special needs.

When the call came from the general contractor working with Sunshine on a Ranney Day, Chris Chapman of Chapman Fence, and past president of the North American Fence Contractors Association, was being asked to bid on the job. After hearing the particulars of the case, he quickly organized a team of volunteers to install fence products donated to the project. The team installed six and eight foot high privacy fence as well as ornamental fencing.

“Knowing it was a local family, and that if no one volunteered labor and materials this fence would cost money that could be better spent on the Tripp family, I had to do something.”, Chapman said. “I'm just glad to be able to help and thankful for all the great fence people who helped out.”

Donations for the fence portion of the Halstead project came from Stephens Pipe and Steel, Modern Fence Technologies, Athens Fence. C & C Fence, Ultra Aluminum, and Chapman Fence, and the installation team consisted of Hector Villanueva, Sammy Franklin, Dustin Chapman, Chris Chapman, and Josh Carter. Projects like this are one more way that NAFCA reaches out to the community.
