FreightWatch Security Net Launches Solution for Tracking and Rescuing Persons at Risk of Wandering
Date:1/27/2010

tively determine the location of the person at risk of wandering. A person at risk of wandering wears or carries the Geo F1 tracking device; an adult can wear it on the waist just like a pager and children can be instructed to wear the tracker in a pant or jacket pocket or in a backpack. The Geo F1 can also be mounted in a person's car. Caregivers log onto FSN's online web interface, FSNtracks, and proactively establish safety zones called geofences. If the at risk person travels beyond the defined geofence, the caregiver receives an alert via text or email. By logging on to FSNtracks from any Internet-capable device to track the person's location, caregivers can quickly locate the exact location of their loved one or patient. The Geo F1 reports its location as quickly as every 30 seconds whether it's outdoors, inside a building, or in an elevator.

FSN's solution also offers a great alternative to the ankle bracelets that are currently being used in many care facilities which set off an alarm when a patient tries to get on an elevator or leave a designated area of the facility. The ankle bracelet/alarm method is an embarrassing experience not only for the patient, but for his or her loved ones. FSN's alternative solution gives people at risk of wandering more freedom and independence to go for a walk, visit friends in other areas of the facility, and freely move about while allowing the facilities responsible for the well being and care of at-risk residents to offer a higher standard of care.

"This exciting application of the Geo F1 product delivers a much needed answer to the growing problem of people who are prone to life-threatening wandering," said Bill Games, President of FSN. "This application is a natural extension of FSN's offering, taking our solutions beyond cargo tracking to now protecting those afflicted with cognitive disorders by helping return them safely to their loved ones and caregivers."
