Freedom Laser Therapy Says Wake up Corporate America! There’s No Cost to Assist Your Employees to Quit Smoking
Date:1/22/2016

Freedom Laser Therapy, a nationally recognized nicotine addiction clinic based in Los Angeles California, and Health Fairs Direct, a leading New Jersey based corporate health and wellness program provider join forces to achieve the goal of assisting millions of employees nationwide in breaking free from smoking. Health Fairs Direct is now exclusively presenting the new Freedom Quit Smoking System nationwide to corporations, insurance companies, and health care practitioners.

Across the United States there is a growing corporate culture to create healthier employees and foster a workplace that cares for their own. Each year, smoking or exposure to secondhand smoke causes approximately 443,000 premature deaths and costs the nation roughly $193 billion in health care costs and lost productivity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. An October 16th, 2015, CDC report says, “18.1% of U.S. adults above the age of eighteen declared they are smokers, down from 42.4% in 1965, this data was compiled up until 2002. Many employers are now establishing zero tolerance tobacco-free workplaces, and there is a growing trend among employers to no longer hire new job applicants who smoke as an initiative for promoting health and reducing insurance premiums."

Since 2003, Freedom Laser Therapy has assisted 10,000 smokers in overcoming nicotine addiction in a clinical setting. Freedom Laser Therapy has developed the new home use Freedom Quit Smoking System, a nicotine-free and multi-faceted approach for quitting smoking that tackles the physical and psychological aspects of nicotine addiction. The Freedom Quit Smoking System is covered by employees’ Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA Rx), creating an opportunity for employers to reduce the numbers of smokers without necessitating an out of pocket expenditure.

Smoking employees are a serious issue for corporations. In June 2013, NBC News reported, on average a smoking employee costs a corporation $6,000 annually due to loss of productivity, sick days, and increased annual health benefits premiums. “Corporations are looking for a less expensive alternative that creates more reliable results than the traditional smoking cessation methods,” said John Buckley of Health Fairs Direct. Health Fairs Direct's success is due in large part because they have unlocked the secret of sustainable behavior change in corporate employees. They deliver over 600 health, wellness and wellbeing events a year as part of their corporate wellness program lineup.

Craig Nabat, CEO of Freedom Laser Therapy, says, “We've developed an effective 10-day home use quit smoking program where the employee doesn't require any time off work to partake in an employer-initiated smoking cessation program."

With the growing trend of corporations mandating a tobacco-free workplace, their employees are often turning to using electronic cigarettes as a means to obtain a quick nicotine fix. It should make employers slightly anxious about impending FDA electronic cigarette regulations of placing a country-wide ban on their usage indoors. Employees may become agitated due to new electronic cigarette regulations which will take away a means of fighting nicotine cravings throughout the work day.

Employers presently have few options to reduce the regularity of unnecessary smoke breaks besides imposing a tobacco usage ban, promoting the usage of nicotine replacement therapy products, or allowing the use of e-cigarettes in the workplace.

Those corporations who have created smoking bans in the workplace are finding that they have just driven smoking underground. This tends to raise the stress level for smokers, which leads to issues with morale, production, and employee retention. A big part of the problem is that the employee does not have access to a reliable solution to handle the addiction to nicotine, which is the main underlying component that drives smokers to smoke.

“There are very specific reasons many people who want to quit smoking fail. Many of them simply do not know what triggers their cravings to smoke or how to effectively handle them. Many of the current solutions that are offered in corporations fall far short of proving a complete solution,” says John Buckley of Health Fairs Direct.

Breaking a tobacco habit requires much more than just replacing one addictive behavior for another. It requires lifestyle changes that extend far beyond breaking an addiction. This is the main reason why smokers who want to quit fail over and over again.

More and more corporations are investing in their most valuable asset–their employees. Pioneering companies are looking for real solutions to the costly issues associated with employees with unhealthy behaviors. With the joint partnership between Freedom Laser Therapy and Health Fairs Direct, corporations now have the opportunity to re-examine their existing workplace wellness programs and consider adopting an innovative new quit smoking program that gives employees a practical solution that has lasting benefits for both the employee and employer.
