Free Compirion Webinar Promotes Nurse Rounding to Improve Patient Safety
Date:7/30/2009

ELM GROVE, Wis., July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Art of Nurse Rounding: Provide a Safer Environment for Patients While Improving Overall Satisfaction Scores is the latest in a series of free webinars presented by Compirion Healthcare Solutions. This important webinar will help Charge Nurses, Nurse Managers and Directors to immediately identify, intervene in and resolve real or potential problems with Patient Throughput, supplies or equipment through the practice of Rounding. Purposeful Rounding promotes an environment of open communication that is critical to collaboration and a healthy culture. Nurses who round find their shifts less stressful and more productive. The full list of webinars can be found at www.compirion.com/webinars, along with times, dates and registration information.

The Art of Nurse Rounding webinar is being presented by one of Compirion's top clinical consultants, Roxanne Tackett, RN, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP. Tackett is currently finishing an improvement project at Duke University Hospital, where she was instrumental in developing the methodology of Rounding by Charge Nurses and a shift management report. Included in the webinar is a free tool to help start a Rounding process.

Tackett has served as Director of Emergency Services at Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head, North Carolina, and at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton, Ohio. She was also the Director of Cardiopulmonary and Wellness at Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Tackett received her Associate of Nursing degree from Lima Technical College in Lima, Ohio, and her Bachelor's in Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude, from Urbana University, Urbana, Ohio. She is currently pursuing her Master's in Healthcare Administration, also from Urbana University. Tackett is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association.

Compirion's presenters are drawn from its pool of consultants, which includes registered nurses, former C-level executives, physicians, business managers and clinicians. The webinars are running through September and average about 45 minutes each, with a question-and-answer session at the end.

According to Compirion management, "We are presenting this series of free webinars because we truly believe that efficiency in the hospital, especially the ED, not only saves time and money, it saves lives. The faster you can get a patient to treatment, the better the outcomes you can expect. It is the premise on which Compirion was founded."
