Frederick Dreher, DDS Sends Over 300 Pounds of Candy to America Troops Overseas
Date:1/4/2013

Ballston Spa, NY (PRWEB) January 04, 2013

The office of Dr. Fred Dreher, DDS, is pleased to announce that they recently sent over 300 pounds of candy to American servicemen overseas as a result of the clinic's annual candy buy back program.

The Wood Road Fourth Grade class collected 11 copy paper boxes full of candy, almost three times as much as last year. The Ballston Spa Middle school class also collected a large amount. In addition to the candy, Dr. Dreher donated toothbrushes and toothpaste to the cause. The donations were sent to the Family Readiness Group in Glens Falls, New York for holiday care packages sent to local soldiers who are deployed. SFC Arthur Coon (retired) and his wife, Julie, head up the efforts of the Family Readiness Group.

"It's a win-win situation," stated Dr. Dreher's office manager, Laurie Bernard. "The kids and parents win, because it reduces the amount of candy the children eat. The service members win, because they can get many more treats in their care packages. Before we started working with the Family Readiness Group, they were only able to include a couple of pieces of candy in the packages. Now, everyone gets a big bag full!"

For patients and community members who would still like to participate, Dr. Dreher's dental practice will continue to collect candy, toiletries, cards, small stuffed animals and other useful items for care packages that the Family Readiness Group sends throughout the year. For drop off times, please call 518-885-6185.
