Franklin University Nursing Program Achieves CCNE Accreditation
Date:6/4/2013

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) June 04, 2013

Franklin University, a leading educator of working adults, is pleased to announce the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) has granted accreditation to its Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (RN to BSN).

Officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is an autonomous accrediting agency, contributing to the improvement of the public's health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

CCNE serves the public interest by assessing and identifying programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages continuing self-assessment by nursing programs and supports continuing growth and improvement of collegiate professional education and post-baccalaureate nurse residency programs.

“Being an accredited program provides current students and future graduates of Franklin University's RN to BSN another competitive edge when looking to further their careers in the nursing field,” stated Dr. Gail Baumlein, Chair, Department of Health and Program Chair of the Master of Healthcare Administration Program, Franklin University. “This will be great for our students who are Registered Nurses and want to pursue their Bachelor’s degree at an institution that can provide them with the skills to advance their career.”

About the Franklin University RN-BSN Program
Franklin’s B.S. in Nursing (RN-BSN) degree completion program is designed specifically for registered nurses with an associate’s degree (ADN) or nursing diploma. The fast-paced RN-BSN Program is comprised of a series of six-week, online courses that fit the busy life and schedule of a registered nurse.

Employers are becoming more selective about their hires. Many are looking to hire, promote, and retain nurses who’ve earned their BSN. That’s why demand for credentialed nurses and nurse leaders is projected to grow at a rate faster than the national average through 2020.

Franklin’s rigorous coursework is an efficient way for RNs to build on existing education and experience, providing the expertise needed to advance in the nursing industry. Students gain the skills healthcare providers are actively looking for in the areas of: healthcare leadership and management, clinical decision-making, personalized medicine, community health, health informatics, and healthcare law and ethics.

Franklin’s online major prepares students to meet contemporary, on-the-job challenges using the latest technology-based learning and assessment tools. The RN-BSN major features simulations, gaming, video, audio, and live classroom activities through a convenient online format. For example, students may join in clinical scenarios through a virtual community. Through rich descriptions of community members’ lives and relationships, as well as social and health issues, students become immersed in following patients start-to-finish through health issues, using what they learn, just as if there were assessing and planning care in a real clinical situation.

Program Credentials
In addition to being accredited by the CCNE, Franklin’s RN-BSN Program curriculum reflects The Essentials of Baccalaureate Education for Professional Nursing Practice, as established by The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Program curriculum meets other national industry standards and guidelines as well, and is informed by the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, Healthy People 2020, and Quality and Safety in Education of Nurses (QSEN).

This degree program is restricted to students with current RN licenses. Program availability varies by state.

The University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
