Donald J. Germano Elected to National Board of Trustees of March of Dimes
Donald J. Germano, Senior Vice President/General Manager of Kmart Stores, has been elected to the national Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Foundation, it was announced today.
March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission and serve five-year terms.
"Kmart is one of the top corporate sponsors and partners of the March of Dimes, and Mr. Germano has played a crucial role in making the relationship grow. We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Mr. Germano and Kmart for all they've done to help babies be born healthy," said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes.
Mr. Germano joined Kmart in 2001 and has held several positions within Sears Holdings and Kmart Supply Chain organizations, including Vice President, Inventory Management & Replenishment for Sears Holdings. He previously held senior management and logistic positions with Kozmo.com, e-tailer and delivery company; Nabisco; North American Van Lines; and UPS. Mr. Germano also served 5 1/2 years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps.
In his current post, Mr. Germano is responsible for the financial performance, operations and management, team development and customer experience of Kmart's 1,382 stores. In 2002, he was named "Family YMCA Volunteer of the Year" by his local YMCA.
Mr. Germano is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He and his wife Karen live in Wilmette, Ill. with their three children.
