Flu Shot Scheduling Chaos Cured by Appointment-Plus Online Appointment Software
Date:11/10/2009

Health departments and administrators discover a simple and cost effective solution to the inefficiencies and long lines associated with the distribution of flu and H1N1 vaccinations.

(PRWEB) November 10, 2009 -- In a flu season plagued by shortages and delays, Appointment-Plus online scheduling software has been a bright spot for the health industry. Appointment-Plus announced today that it had a record number of flu shot providers utilizing or getting ready to utilize its online scheduling system to allow patients to book flu shot appointments via the Internet. Providers using Appointment-Plus for the 2009 flu season included state and local health departments, major providers such as Walgreens, and even small to medium-sized wellness providers.

Appointment-Plus online scheduling software allows flu shot providers the ability to quickly implement a customized patient self-scheduling system. The system also manages the more traditional call-in and in-person appointments, coordinating the entire scheduling environment. Providers simply setup a secure online account with Appointment-Plus and then define the flu shot events and the appointment slots available. Providers then add a link to their website that allows patients to securely click through to register and schedule a flu shot appointment. Automated confirmation emails, reminder emails and text message reminders can then be sent to complete the entire process. Patients arrive at their scheduled appointment times and avoid the chaos so often associated with flu shot distribution.

Appointment-Plus has seen the largest increase in flu shot client accounts in the area of local health departments. City and county departments have discovered the efficiencies associated with allowing patients to schedule high volumes of appointments online rather than just “showing up” at a clinic for flu shots. Because Appointment-Plus can be enabled to work on mobile devices and PDAs, offsite providers can also securely access the schedule in real-time if desirable. In addition, the robust Appointment-Plus reporting capabilities permit local providers the ability to run a daily appointment sheet for each flu shot event.

“Appointment-Plus has built in a number of key pieces of functionality specifically needed for flu shot scheduling,” said Jeff Fleming, Director of Business Development. “As a result, providers can typically set up the system and be ready for use in a less than 24 hours. Most providers pay less than $1,000 to use the system for the entire season, often scheduling 20,000 appointments or more.”

StormSource Software, Inc. is a technology firm that specializes in the development of online appointment software for a wide variety of applications and industries. StormSource’s flagship product is the Appointment-Plus online scheduling system. StormSource Software clients include Fortune 500 companies such as Pepsi and Comcast, federal and local government, universities and schools, and small/medium sized businesses worldwide. In 2007, Microsoft Corp. selected StormSource’s Appointment-Plus software as its preferred online scheduling system.
