Florida Hospital North Pinellas is Opening a New Free-Standing Emergency Room in Palm Harbor
Date:8/27/2015

Florida Hospital North Pinellas, located at 1395 South Pinellas Avenue in Tarpon Springs, will open a free-standing emergency room in Palm Harbor in the Fall of 2016. The new facility will be located at US Highway 19 North and Highlands Boulevard, less than eight miles from the main hospital.

The property closed on August 18, and work on the project is slated to begin in September 2015.

The new 24-bed facility will be a full-service emergency room (ER) providing emergency care 24- hours a day, seven-days-a-week. The ER will be staffed with physicians and nurses who specialize in emergency medicine, and will also include on-site X-ray, ultrasound, CT-scan, and laboratory services.

“Florida Hospital North Pinellas is expanding its emergency services in order to meet the healthcare needs of our community. Our emergency room visits have been growing and in 2015, we expect to see over 25,000 visits in our hospital ER. By adding a free-standing ER in Palm Harbor, we can provide our community with greater access to comprehensive, emergency care right where they need it and we are committed to fulfilling this critical role in our community,” said Bruce Bergherm, President & CEO at Florida Hospital North Pinellas.

The main hospital has provided healthcare to residents in Pinellas and Pasco counties since 1927. Florida Hospital North Pinellas is an Accredited Chest Pain Center. It also received the Get with the Guidelines® - Stroke Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award by the American Heart Association and the American Stroke Association.

The hospital is consistently recognized as one of the safest hospitals in Pinellas County with an “A” rating in the Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Scorecard.
