In this circumstance, the oil is blessed by a bishop and is then used to bless the confirmed member.

The oils have been and continue to be used for anointing the sick. In this process, holy oil is blessed and administered to sick members of the church. It is a sacrament that is derived from the New Testament and is considered a rite that represents God’s Grace to the sick.
