Fitness 4 Home Superstore, Inc., Arizona’s premier supplier of fitness equipment, announces a major online retailer will begin charging Arizona residents full sales tax beginning February 1, 2013. Amazon.com, the nation’s largest online retailer, will now be required to add 6.6 percent sales tax to all purchases made in Arizona.
Many Arizona retailers, trade organizations and government agencies have long supported sales tax being charged for online purchases. They believe having online retailers charge full sales tax creates parity and levels the playing field for local bricks and mortar establishments. Although traditional retailers do not want to create a disincentive for e-commerce, they also do not want to be at an economic disadvantage compared to their online competition.
“With the sales tax savings advantage gone, it makes even more sense for Arizona residents to support their local businesses and community,” said Fitness 4 Home Superstore Owner and President Bob Lachniet. “When buying fitness equipment from us locally, customers receive face-to-face support both during and after their purchase. They can come in and try products, get them delivered and assembled in their home. And, there’s unlikely to be any price advantage to buying fitness equipment online at Amazon.com.”
