HealthPartners hosts nine physicians from Chongqing Bureau of Health

BLOOMINGTON, Minn., May 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education is hosting the first major medical delegation of Chinese physicians ever to visit Minnesota. During their three-month stay, the physicians will observe hospital- and clinic-based patient care, learn about health plan and hospital administration and observe clinical research methodology.

"We're honored that the Chongqing Bureau of Health recognizes the quality of work we do at HealthPartners, so much so, that they've sent nine of their top physician leaders to study our model of care over the next few months," said Dr. Carl Patow, executive director of HealthPartners Institute for Medical Education. "I'm certain we will learn as much from them as they will from us."

The program is designed to promote the spread of best practices in patient care, medical education and research internationally. It also seeks to collect innovative ideas in healthcare and disease prevention and facilitate worldwide networking among medical experts.

"HealthPartners integrated care model and reputation for quality provide a great learning opportunity for the Chinese medical community," said Zhou Jiying, MD, PhD, chief physician of neurology at Chongqing University of Medical Sciences. "My colleagues and I are excited to not only learn, but contribute our knowledge to improve healthcare and benefit the global medical community."
