Filipino World Champion Endorses Charity to Help Fight Child Poverty
Date:3/15/2010

The Elmore Oil Company, an innovative Australian manufacturer of over the counter medical products has signed a 6 year deal with international super bantam weight champion, Balweg Bangoyan, to endorse their new program to raise money for children in poverty in the Philippines

(PRWEB) -- The company’s flagship product, a lotion called Elmore Oil (www.elmoreoil.com.au), which is used for pain relief for people suffering from arthritis and muscular aches and pains, has been Australias fastest selling topical pain reliever over the last 3 years and is now available in 12 countries around the world, including the Philippines.

And now the makers of the fastest selling topical pain reliever have teamed with a man who is considered by some as one of the most promising new boxers, to help children who may not otherwise have a chance to make it in life. Davao del sur Vice Governor Simplicio “Fely” Latasa described Bangoyan as “one of the brightest Filipino prospects in years to hold a world championship” and a future champion of the people.

It all started when the companies managing director, Mark Linford, made his first business trip to the Philippines in November 2007 and was struck by the number of young children on the streets of Manila, forced to beg for a living. “It’s a hard thing to witness”, says Mr. Linford, “and I knew from the first time I visited the country we needed to do something to help. It took a little over a year to get something in place but we now have a trust fund which provides financial help for the children of the Philippines.”

“Initially we set up a pilot program which is being trialed in Ozamiz City, in the southern region of Mindanao, before we launch it around the Philippines. The program is funded from proceeds from the sale of our Elmore Oil in the Philippines, with 10 pesos from the sale of every 50ml bottle going into the fund which is then distributed by the Ozamiz City treasury department to needy street kids to provide education programs.”

While it is still in the trial stage at the moment, it has been quite successful, with the personal endorsement of the Mayor of Ozamiz City, Reynaldo Parojinog. But now with the backing of the Philippines latest emerging champion, Balweg Bangoyan, the fund is set to be promoted rapidly around the whole country, working with each of the country’s 14 major regions.

The companies managing director, Mark Linford, believes Balweg Banyogan is a perfect fit for his company. “ This young boxer seems to be a fine ambassador for his country and a great role model for the young people of The Philippines. This is exactly the type of person we like to support and assist in any way we can to progress their career. We will help Balweg progress and support him whenever we can because he is a good role model for kids and a future champion of the Philippine people.”

Mr. Linford flew to Davao City to meet with Bangoyan and his manager, Mayor Zander Khan, to sign off the dealon March 1st, one day before the title defence Bangoyan was scheduled to fight, but the Bangoyan fight was re-scheduled due to the offer of a chance to take on the WBC Senior World title holder in Tokyo at the end of April.

Bangoyan will now fight the Japanese title holder, Toshiaki Nishioka, on the 25th of April in Tokyo to determine the World Superbantam Weight crown. Bangoyan signed the 6 year deal on the 3rd of March and will now be the official ambassador of the Elmore Oil Trust Fund for Street Children in the Philippines.
