FileHold Document Management Software Adds Scanning and Imaging Options for the Paperless Office
Date:11/17/2009

Document management software manufacturer; FileHold Systems Inc. has added new document scanning and imaging options to support the “Paperless Office”. Organizations today are trying to implement green practices including the reduction of paper proliferation.

(PRWEB) November 17, 2009 -- FileHold helps companies organize their electronic information into secure, searchable and sharable archives. To complete the vision of the paperless office many organizations also want to convert file cabinets full of paper to electronic form. To make this task easier FileHold has added connectors to document scanning software products: Kodak Capture Pro and the Lexmark Document Distributor. These new connectors complement the existing connectors to scanning software suppliers; Kofax Ascent Capture and EMC Quick Scan Pro. In addition to these certified connectors, to the world’s best scanning software, FileHold also supports integration with any network based Multi Function Scanner (MFC) through the FileHold “Watched Folders” feature.

As paper documents are scanned and converted to electronic form the scanning software facilitates the capture of metadata using Zonal Optical Character Recognition. This metadata, sometimes called tags, allows the FileHold software to automatically direct the electronic documents to the correct folders within FileHold. Once in the correct folders the document will inherit any user permissions or controls that apply. If OCR has been added to the document by the scanning software FileHold will fully index the document making it full text searchable. FileHold has powerful search capabilities that weigh the importance of full text search and metadata search to give intelligent search results.

Tom Newton, Director of International sales at FileHold commented: “These new connectors give our re-sellers, located all over the wor
