Fashion Designer Naeem Khan, Actor Richard Kind and Star Chef Michel Nischan Among Other Luminaries to Attend Diabetes Research Institute Foundation's 'D.R.E.a.M.S. in the City'

NEW YORK, April 13 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Naeem Khan dresses celebrities such as Carrie Underwood, Eva Longoria and Beyonce, and socialites and political figures such as Queen Noor of Jordan. Actor Richard Kind's credits include the hit television shows "Spin City" and "Mad About You" and a lauded one-man Broadway show. Renowned chef and award-winning cookbook author Michel Nischan is noted for creating a "cuisine of well being" and for his appearances as guest chef on CNBC's, "dLife." The good news is the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation's fourth annual D.R.E.a.M.S. in the City fundraiser has them all.

Trendy and chic, D.R.E.a.M.S. in the City will attract some of New York City's most elegant and sophisticated crowd, all for a good cause. This fabulous affair will be held at Capitale at 130 Bowery on Thursday May 7, 2009 starting at 6:30 p.m. D.R.E.a.M.S. soirees, always feature highly-rated wines from Wine Spectator, delicious food, and a luxury silent auction, as well as a live auction offering many one-of-a-kind items. Proceeds benefit the cure-focused work of the Diabetes Research Institute (DRI.)

This year, Indian born designer Naeem Khan will be receiving the "Dare to Dream Award" for his support of diabetes research. The House of Halston-trained Khan has become recognized worldwide for his intricate and luxurious designs, and he has a loyal fan base of celebrities and socialites. Khan's designs are available at leading retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus.

Actor Richard Kind, who boasts a long list of credits in television, movies and theater will emcee the event. He also may be called upon to demonstrate his talents as an auctioneer for the live auction, a role handled last year by football great Michael Strahan.
