Independence Blue Cross members save on ice skating admission

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Independence Blue Cross (IBC) is encouraging families to attend this year's Healthy Kids Fest on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Just in time for those New Year's resolutions, the celebration of fun and fitness will feature music and free activities for the whole family.

The Blue Cross RiverRink and the twelfth annual Healthy Kids Fest will offer a wide variety of information and tips for families on how to stay healthy. Interactive games such as "Better Body Bingo" are available for family members of all ages, and Philadelphia area exercise expert, Don Baxter, will be providing an array of fitness demonstrations throughout the day. Ice skaters and their families can visit IBC tables during the event and receive an abundance of free information about nutrition, fitness, and healthy eating.

"Maintaining and improving our members' health is our primary focus at IBC," said Dr. Esther Nash, senior medical director of Population Health and Wellness at IBC. "We consistently encourage members of all ages to take an active role in their health, and strive to provide them with the information about nutrition and fitness that they need to make it happen. The Healthy Kids Fest at the Blue Cross RiverRink offers an excellent opportunity to have fun and stay fit this winter."

All Healthy Kids Fest activities are free to the public. Skating sessions cost $7 per person and skating hours are from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. during the festival. Independence Blue Cross members can receive a $2 discount off skating admission throughout the season, by showing their Keystone Health Plan East, Personal Choice(C), or other IBC health coverage member ID card.
