Independence Blue Cross Members Can Save on Ice Skating Admission Through

the End of the Season

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Independence Blue Cross encourages families to enjoy the fresh air and head outdoors this weekend for the Healthy Kids Fest at the Blue Cross RiverRink at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia. As one of the best ways for families to enjoy the winter months, the skating season is in full swing and will be going strong for another seven weeks. Independence Blue Cross helps save members money by offering a $2 discount for those who show a member ID card.

The Independence Blue Cross Annual Healthy Kids Fest celebrates ways for kids to have fun that are safe and also healthy for them. The celebration, which takes place Saturday, January 12, 2008, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Blue Cross RiverRink, is one more way Independence Blue Cross is helping our members and the community to feel great in '08. As childhood obesity continues to escalate as a serious health issue in Pennsylvania, exercise is increasingly important for our youth, and skating is a terrific way to burn calories and get in shape.

"We are thrilled to sponsor, for the past 14 seasons, a safe place for kids to meet, have fun and stay fit with their friends and families," said Joseph A. Frick, president and CEO of Independence Blue Cross. "The Blue Cross RiverRink offers a unique mix of family entertainment, outdoor winter exercise opportunities and breathtaking views of the Delaware River, the Ben Franklin Bridge and our great city. As part of our ongoing commitment to the community and continually promoting healthy lifestyles, we are happy to continue our partnership with the Penn's Landing Corporation in sponsoring this tradition of great family fun."

Healthy Kids Fest, this Saturday, will feature information and tips for families on how to stay healthy. The event offers interactive games, fitness demonstrations from Phila
