ASHVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Fairbank Farms, a national ground beef producer, is voluntarily recalling from Shaw's Supermarkets, 85% Lean Ground Round Beef Patties. The ground beef patties, sold fresh under the Shaw's label, could have been purchased by consumers in New England on Wednesday September 5, 2007 approximately between 7am and 11am. Out of an abundance of caution, the product has been removed from saledue to concerns about possible contamination with E.coli 0157:H7.
The product subject to recall includes:
1.33-pound trays of "FRESH GROUND ROUND BEEF PATTIES, 85/15." Each package
bears the establishment number "Est. 492" inside the USDA mark of
inspection. Each "Nutrition Facts" label bears a time stamp between
"17:05" and "17:25" as well as a date code of "243."
Fairbank Farms took immediate steps to initiate this voluntary recall after learning that affected product may have entered the New England marketplace. A majority of the product was isolated in the warehouse. Some affected product was shipped to stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The affected product has been pulled from store shelves.
Customers who have purchased the products that are subject to this recall may return the product to their local Shaw's store for a full refund or exchange.
