Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank Fechner Selects Artefill to Meet Growing Patient Demand for a Longer Lasting Dermal Filler
Date:7/16/2009

WORCESTER, Mass., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Frank P. Fechner, M.D. has selected Artefill, the first and only FDA-approved microsphere-enhanced collagen filler for the correction of smile lines, to treat patients who are looking for a longer lasting dermal filler. Dr. Fechner has been an avid Artefill user the past several years due to its proven success and effectiveness for the correction of deep wrinkles.

"In our hands, Artefill has been proven to be a safe and effective dermal filler for patients looking to correct their nasolabial creases, with minimal maintenance requirements," said Dr. Fechner. "Due to the product's nature, Artefill's effect may last easily five years or longer. However, given the superior longevity of Artefill, we recommend 'meticulous technique and conservative placement of the filler' and routinely prepare our patients for two visits in order to achieve the desired improvements."

This simple, in-office procedure takes approximately fifteen minutes to complete. A patient is injected with Artefill similar to other dermal fillers with the key difference being its lasting effect. The unique microspheres in Artefill are not absorbed by the body and therefore provide the support the skin needs for long lasting natural feeling results. This is different from temporary dermal fillers that are made of different kinds of natural or synthetic materials that are completely absorbed by the body over time and require repeat injections to maintain wrinkle correction. A skin test is required prior to treatment or approximately four (4) weeks ahead of time, to ensure a patient is not allergic to the collagen or anesthetic in Artefill.

Artefill is only offered by a select group of physicians in New England and is not available at all physician offices. Dr. Fechner is one of the trained and select physicians who have the skills and experience needed to administer the product safely.

Jane Hansen, a patient of Dr. Fechner's said, "Prior to Artefill, I found myself constantly looking at my nasolabial folds. Since I had the treatment, I feel and look much better and I'm not constantly obsessing in the mirror anymore. I would do it again and would definitely refer Artefill to other patients."
