Urges Opposition to Legislation Fit for King Herod Himself
WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- As the Senate prepares for a Christmas Eve vote on Senator Reid's health care bill, Family Research Council Action (FRC Action) announced that it will immediately begin a last minute phone call campaign in six states -- Nebraska, Arkansas, Louisiana, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The phone calls will ask voters to contact their Senators and tell them "don't trade the lives of children for political power."
Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins released the following statement:
"Isn't it a little ironic that as we celebrate Christmas and the birth of a baby in a manger that the health care bill hinges on unborn babies? The Senate is preparing to vote on a pro-abortion, pro-rationing, pro-tax, pro-death law fit for King Herod himself.
"These Senators have avoided their constituents by meeting and holding pivotal votes over weekends, holidays, and late into the night. Our phone call campaign into hundreds of thousands of homes will help ensure that these senators will be held accountable for voting to mandate federal funding of abortion."
The following is a partial script of the phone call:
"Merry Christmas, the following is an important update about the government takeover of your health care. Just like the first Christmas when King Herod ordered innocent babies to be killed so he could retain power, the lives of millions of babies are once again in jeopardy. Senator Mary Landrieu is about to vote for Obamacare, a pro-abortion, pro-rationing, pro-tax, pro-death law fit for Herod himself. It uses our tax dollars to kill unborn children. It also cuts Medicare funding and hikes our health costs, all while denying you and your family needed medical options. But we have one last chance! Please call again right now and say: Senator Landrieu, Stop Obamacare by Christmas. Don't trade the lives of children for political power. Are you ready for Senator Landrieu's phone numbers?"
