Date:2/23/2009

ols
  • Educational materials for a metropolitan school district food allergy conference and a pilot program to standardize the care of children who have food allergies
  • Display booths and banners for community events
  • Educational workshop with the local YMCA
  • Additionally, to date, FAAN has awarded over 40 School Nurse Conference Scholarships to nurses throughout the country. The annual conference of the National Association of School Nurses offers the latest information about managing food allergy in schools. Twenty-five scholarships have been awarded this year.

"School nurses play a critical role in keeping our children safe at school," said Bradsher. "We are pleased to provide an opportunity to not only recognize efforts made by these nurses but also offer a means to help further education and awareness on behalf of those with food allergies."

"It was very inspiring to see over 1,200 school nurses together in one unity discussing school nursing issues and sharing ideas for providing the best nursing care for school age children nationwide. I'm so grateful for the scholarship FAAN provided. It wouldn't have been possible for me to go to this conference without the scholarship," said Susan Han, R.N., M.S.N., N.P. a district nurse in Pleasanton, Calif. who received a School Nurse Conference Scholarship in 2008.
