FAAN's Walk for Food Allergy Funds Local Initiatives in 26 Communities
FAIRFAX, Va., Feb. 23 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) announced today its plans to continue funding local initiatives in communities throughout the U.S. affected by food allergies.
"A key part of FAAN's mission is to provide education that raises awareness of food allergies and supports families and communities affected by food allergies," said Julia Bradsher, FAAN's CEO.
In today's crumbling economy, many organizations working with worthy causes are finding it tough to secure funding, and educational programs are facing cutbacks. Yet, despite the nationwide economic downturn, FAAN remains committed to its mission and continues to offer funding for local initiatives.
To date, FAAN has awarded more than 40 grants to 26 cities that have hosted a FAAN Walk for Food Allergy. Such cities include Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Philadelphia, San Diego, St. Louis, St. Paul, and many more. Seven grants have been awarded this year.
Utilizing funds raised from the Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward A Cure(TM) campaign, FAAN's Community Outreach Grant program provides financial resources for local education programs and support group activities, and provides scholarships for school nurses to attend the annual conference of the National Association of School Nurses.
The grant submission requests that FAAN received encompassed a broad range of local initiatives, all targeted at increasing food allergy awareness and education. The projects awarded grant funding this year include:
