Expectant Moms Offered Free Prenatal Prescription Vitamins at D-FW Area Carnival, Minyard and Sack'n Save Stores

DALLAS, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Minyard Food Stores Inc. is offering any expectant mom free prenatal prescription vitamins as part of a community-based "Start Life Healthy(TM)" initiative, the company announced today.

Just in time for Mother's Day, the "Start Life Healthy" program will offer free prenatal vitamins to all expectant mothers for a full year, which includes three months after delivery, at any Carnival, Minyard or Sack'n Save store in North Texas. This is the first time such a program has been offered by any retail store in the North Texas area.

Beginning Wednesday, May 7, expectant moms need only to present a doctor's prescription for one of the three popular prenatal vitamin formulations at any Carnival, Minyard, or Sack'n Save pharmacy to receive a first one-month supply with monthly refills at no cost. No insurance plan is required.

"We are committed to health and wellness programs, benefiting our customers and the communities in which we operate," said Minyard President and CEO Mike Byars. "We're the first to offer this kind of important program, and we're proud to take the lead."

Minyard Food Stores Inc. is working with local health, community, civic and faith-based organizations to help spread the word about the free prenatal prescription vitamin program, which offers patients a choice of one of three popular prescription prenatal formulations by Ethex Corporation:

-- Advanced Natalcare

-- Natatab Rx

-- NatalCare Plus

The Minyard Food Stores program will save families anywhere from $20 to $50 per month, depending on the formulation selected. For more information and locations of Carnival, Minyard and Sack'n Save pharmacies, visit

North Texas' only locally-based grocery chain, Minyard Food Stores Inc. currently operates 58 supermarkets, 33 pharmacies and 13 fuel stations in six surrounding counties of the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, including 21 Minyard, 12 Sack'n Save and 25 Carnival Food Stores.
