Expanded Life Skills Courses at Emerald Coast Rehab Contribute to High Success Rate

A successful recovery entails more than just putting down the drink or drug. It requires a change of behaviors and adaptation of new skills that help people embrace a new way of life. Emerald Coast Rehab’s new life skills courses fulfill that requirement with a series of classes that address the multiple needs of an individual that help him or her most effectively deal with life’s challenges without picking up a drink or drug.

“Our new life skills courses help teach people what they need to know to live effectively without a drink or drugs,” said Emerald Coast Rehab Director Chris Ross. “These classes can dramatically decrease a person’s chances of relapse and play a major role in our 90 percent success rate.”

The lineup of courses includes those focusing on communications, perception, learning improvement and personal values and integrity. It also includes a course outlining how cravings are reduced through the removal of toxins and residue from the body as well as a course designed to teach people how to most effectively deal with life’s ups and downs. With an eye on the future, the Changing Conditions in Life course presents detailed formulas that teach a person steps that can help improve their life while the Way to Happiness Course provides a moral code that can help guide them in their new way of life.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse stresses that an effective recovery program addresses a person’s needs beyond his or her substance abuse. Emerald Coast Rehab’s life skills courses address multiple needs while introducing new skills to more effectively maintain a balanced and sober state of mind and way of life.
