Health Benefits of Cherry Fruit Extract

Like most of the berry fruits we eat, the delightful cherry is a “superfruit” that contains wonderful health benefits. The wild cherry or sweet cherry (Prunus avium genus), in particular, is a species of cherry that is cultivated in Europe, Western Turkey, Northwestern Africa and other Eastern Hemisphere countries. Cherries contain Vitamin A and Vitamin C, and are high in nutrients like beta-carotene, perillyl, ellagic acid, and potassium.

The health benefits of this small fruit are plentiful:

1.    Anti-inflammatory properties and joint health: The anthocyanin flavanoids found in cherries protect against inflammation caused by arthritis and other chronic conditions of the joints. A 2006 study published in Journal of Nutrition found that consumption of approximately 45 nearly freeze-dried sweet cherries per day lowers serum markers of inflammation in both men and women.
