Eurotech and Authentidate Enter into a Contract for Embedded Computer for Home-Based Medical Device

COLUMBIA, Md. and SAN JOSE, Calif., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Eurotech, a leading provider of embedded products and technologies, today announced that it has entered into a contract with Authentidate for design and delivery of the embedded computing engine for Authentidate's joint venture ExpressMD Solutions' remote patient health monitoring device. After initial delivery of units, Authentidate will have the option of moving to a license business model with Eurotech for complete control and responsibility of manufacturing and procurement functions.

The device currently uses the Eurotech BitsyXb embedded computer with a custom carrier card to optimize features and I/O options. Eurotech's engineering development team will deliver a single board that will leverage the current computer design for greatest cost reduction and differentiation of the platform to fulfill this contract within Authentidate's accelerated time to market schedule.

Authentidate chose to continue working with Eurotech based on FDA approval of the existing technology, the company's ability to deliver a low-power solution, past positive engineering design and customer support service, and the company's business model and product line flexibility.

"Since our device is designed for the healthcare market, we need it to have a high performance level, a robust design and be flexible in configuration," said Ben O'Connell, President of Authentidate Holding Corp. "More importantly, Eurotech has a history of building products that can be manufactured to meet the healthcare market demands that Authentidate is addressing at the price points that allow us to be competitive."

"Authentidate encouraged us to explore the best ways to support their industry compliance requirements and constraints," explains Greg Nicoloso, CEO of Eurotech in North America. "Moving from an off the shelf product, to a differentiated and customized platform, to a license model gives Authentidate the path to introduce and grow with technology that will meet the long-life needs of the medical industry."
