Date:4/30/2010

Estes Audiology and the SERTOMA Club Windcrest Will Collect Donated Hearing Aids on May 18th during Hearing Aid Roundup

New Braunfels, TX (Vocus) April 30, 2010 -- Estes Audiology and the Windcrest SERTOMA Club (San Antonio) invite all to round up their used hearing aids and mosey on down to the Hearing Aid Roundup at Estes Audiology in New Braunfels on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 between 2:00-4:00. The Roundup will celebrate Better Speech and Hearing Month by asking residents in New Braunfels, San Antonio and the surrounding communities to donate their used hearing aids.

Hearing aids donated to SERTOMA will be given to and refurbished by the UT-Austin Speech and Hearing Clinic, where the clinicians and audiology doctoral students will fit and make them available to those who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

“Each day, millions of Americans’ livelihoods, relationships and quality of living suffer due to hearing loss. With each donation, another person will have the chance to hear life again,” said Soriya Estes, AuD, owner and founder of Estes Audiology. “Many thanks to the Windcrest SERTOMA Club for helping us with this drive.”

“We are proud to team with Estes Audiology to promote hearing health. Our local SERTOMA club is dedicated to promoting awareness and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss,” added Bob Patton, President of the Windcrest SERTOMA Club. “We’re hoping many will come to the event for information on how to prevent hearing loss or to donate used hearing aids so that those, who are in need, can be helped.”

The SERTOMA Club is a national organization that focuses on assisting people with hearing health issues and educating the public on the issues surrounding hearing health. The SERTOMA Hearing Aid Recycling Program also known as S.H.A.R.P. is sponsored by SERTOMA clubs throughout North America.

Each year, hearing loss affects millions of Americans. It is estimated that more than 34 million Americans suffer from hearing loss, including children.

The Hearing Aid Roundup New Braunfels takes place at Estes Audiology, 1528 Common Street, Ste. 5, New Braunfels, Texas. The event is free to the public. This event at the New Braunfels’ clinic is the second Roundup planned for Estes Audiology’s clinics during the month of May. The first Roundup is scheduled for May 15th, 2010, in Georgetown and is hosted by Legacy Hills Hearing Center by Estes Audiology and the Georgetown SERTOMA Club.
