Epilepsy Foundation Northwest to Hold Only-One-Of-Its-Kind Camp for Kids

SEATTLE, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Epilepsy Foundation Northwest is set to hold its annual camp for children, the only one of its kind in Washington, Oregon and surrounding states. Camp Discovery will run from Thursday, August 27 through Sunday, August 30( )and is free to children and teens between the ages 7-17 living with epilepsy.

Located at the YMCA's Camp Colman on Puget Sound near Longbranch, WA, the camp will help children learn more about epilepsy and how others live with the disorder. Campers will enjoy such activities as hiking, swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, games and much more.

"Children with epilepsy come together to share experiences and enjoy camp with others who also have epilepsy," said Brent Herrmann, CEO. "Camp Discovery is the only camp in the northwest designed specifically for kids who have epilepsy."

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder that causes recurrent seizures and is the most common neurological disorder in children. It affects close to 3 million Americans and approximately 200,000 cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone. The disorder is equal in prevalence to cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease combined.
